Over the course of the last few months, Safespots has attended and been involved with numerous events in the wider Wythenshawe community. These include:
- International Women’s Day in Wythenshawe
At the start of March 2025, Safespots staff were grateful to be invited to attend Wythenshawe’s International Women’s Day event. It was truly inspiring to hear from all of the speakers, including witnessing the presentation held by Altrincham Grammar School for Girls which aimed to raise awareness of domestic abuse. Additionally, we were glad to see local government presence at the event to lend their support, including Kate Green, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester and Wythenshawe MP, Mike Kane.
Furthermore, Safespots actively participated in the event through facilitating a popular arts and crafts station focused upon female empowerment. We were proud to see our community’s commitment in lifting women up and championing their well-earned successes, and are looking forward to attending next year! - Connector events with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group
Earlier this year, Safespots has taken part in connector events as part of Wythenshawe Community Housing Group’s “Community Chest Programme”: intending to facilitate financial and other support for local organisations.
During this event, the chair of Safespots successfully connected with the Casey Group’s Social Impact Executive and discussed the ways the two organisations could collaborate/elevate each other. Following the event, the Casey group generously funded 100 Freedom programme course booklets, in addition to office supplies, kitchenware, computers and phones.
We truly appreciate the connection we have developed with the Casey Group as a result of this event and want to give a massive thank you to Wythenshawe Community Housing Group for making this relationship a possibility. Moreover, we are incredibly grateful for the Casey Group’s generous support and belief in our organisations capacity to grow. - BW3 events
Safespots has also attended numerous BW3 events in Wythenshawe which focus upon providing networking opportunities with local businesses. These events enable local organisations to connect with different businesses to expand our sense of community in Wythenshawe, in addition to learning what their different work entails. Further, Safespots were able to explore future collaborative possibilities to see how we can grow and work together.
We have enjoyed connecting with familiar faces in new ways and look forward to hope to further develop these relationships at future events!
